6 Month Contract

The Opportunity
We are working with a leading organisation in the energy sector to recruit an experienced Finance Manager on an initial 6 month contract based in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior finance professional to step into a high-profile role within a well-established finance function, leading a team and driving accurate, compliant financial reporting across the business.
The Role
Taking ownership of the month end process and overseeing a team of accountants and finance analysts, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting whilst supporting the broader finance leadership team. Day to day you will be:
- Leading the month end process, ensuring accuracy through the review and approval of key journals
- Managing, mentoring and developing accountants and finance analysts to achieve their full potential
- Ensuring compliance with Group financial control policies, including oversight of balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting in the preparation and review of the year end group pack
- Overseeing the seamless transition of completed development projects into the operational portfolio
- Continuously improving processes to meet financial control requirements
- A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in a Finance Manager or similar senior finance role
- Strong technical accounting skills with experience leading month end close processes and balance sheet oversight
- Proven people management experience with the ability to mentor and develop finance professionals
- A compliance-focused mindset with a thorough understanding of financial control frameworks
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders
- Experience within the energy or utilities sector would be advantageous but is not essential
