6 Month Contract

The Opportunity
We are working with a leading organisation in the energy sector to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant on an initial 6-month contract based in Reading. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong accountant to join a high-performing finance function and make an immediate impact.
The Role
Working closely with the Financial Controller and Business Partner, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across a portfolio of legal entities. Day to day you will be:
- Completing the month end process including journals, reconciliations, variance analysis and commentary on principal variances
- Preparing financial statements for relevant legal entities
- Assisting in the preparation and review of the year end group pack
- Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the Financial Controller and Business Partner, highlighting material impacts to performance
- Supporting the General Accounting Lead to identify and implement process improvements and efficiency initiatives
- A qualified or part-qualified accountant with solid experience in a similar financial accounting role
- Strong technical accounting skills with experience of month end close, reconciliations and financial statement preparation
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyse variances and communicate findings clearly to senior stakeholders
- A proactive, improvement-focused mindset with the ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment
- Experience within the energy or utilities sector would be advantageous but is not essential
