The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Forecast Manager to play a pivotal role within one of the UK’s most complex and high-profile transport hubs. This role sits at the heart of the organisation’s planning, performance and long-term strategic growth.
You’ll lead the development and delivery of sophisticated passenger forecasts that directly influence business planning, investment, and operational capacity for years to come.
You’ll join at a particularly transformative time, as the business builds a next-generation forecasting platform — utilising the latest advancements in data science, cloud computing, machine learning, AI, Monte Carlo simulation, and big data analytics to create more accurate and insightful forecasts than ever before.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead delivery of short, medium, and long-term passenger forecasts, leveraging deep sector knowledge, economic modelling, and cutting-edge data science techniques.
- Drive continuous improvement of forecasting methodologies, processes, and data inputs to ensure high levels of accuracy and commercial value.
- Partner with internal senior stakeholders, investors, commercial teams, airline partners, and external consultants to validate forecasts and support business decision-making.
- Lead scenario modelling for a range of operational and strategic risks including weather disruptions, industrial action, and global macroeconomic events.
- Provide regular reporting and actionable insights to the Executive team, Board members, and external stakeholders.
- Manage and mentor a team of analysts, fostering the development of best-in-class capability within the forecasting function.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and externally to bring in leading-edge thinking, new data sources, and innovative modelling techniques.
- Educated to degree level in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Economics, Engineering) with additional training in forecasting, econometrics, or statistics an advantage.
- Solid understanding of the aviation, transport, or infrastructure sector, with strong commercial awareness and interest in global economic trends.
- Proven experience delivering impactful forecasts that influence business strategy and improve processes or policy.
- Excellent judgement with the ability to interpret incomplete or uncertain data to support commercial decisions.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to present complex data and insights to senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly numerate with advanced Excel skills; proficient in PowerBI and other MS O365 tools.
- Working knowledge of Python or R is advantageous; an appetite for developing technical expertise in modern forecasting tools is essential.
